L’ex-receveur américain qui a porté les couleurs des Yankees de New York pendant dix-huit saisons, de 1946 à 1963, est mort dans son sommeil de causes naturelles, selon le Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center.

Mais au-delà de son palmarès exceptionnel, M. Berra restera dans l’histoire du baseball pour ses saillies humoristiques, également appelées les « yoggismes ». Parmi les plus savoureuses : « Ce n’est pas fini, tant que ce n’est pas fini », « le baseball est à 90 % mental, l’autre moitié est physique » ou « ne jamais répondre à une lettre anonyme ».
