When we think of Dubai, we think of endless riches and lavish luxuries. That is the image that most of us have but behind the scenes there is a hidden dark cost that is being paid by the expatriate workers who come to Dubai to help construct these towers. This documentary explores the slave labor situation and we see to what extent this problem extends.

3 million people are in Dubai as workers, have their passports stripped from them, and not getting paid the money they should. BBC’s Ben Anderson finds these workers and talks to them in an attempt to unfold what life is like as a migrant worker in Dubai.

After watching this short documentary, you will never look at the skyline of Dubai in the same way.
